Psychiatric Evaluations
In the initial appointment, we will be asking questions to get to know you better. We will specifically want to know more about:
- what is going on currently
- historic psychiatric symptoms
- previous treatments, medications, & therapies
- medical and substance use history
- social and family history
Based on your answers during the evaluation, we will form a diagnosis and then discuss treatment options. Often times evaluations result in recommendations for therapy and/or medications. If therapy is indicated, a referral to a therapist will be provided. If medications are suggested, we will review options, risks, benefits and drug-drug interactions.
Medication Management
- The purpose of medication management appointments is to assess for tolerability and effectiveness of medications so appropriate adjustments can be made, if necessary.
- If medications are prescribed, they will be sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy.
- The type of medication prescribed will be dependent on the diagnosis formed at your initial evaluation appointment.
- The frequency of these follow-up appointments will depend on how you are doing clinically and how you are responding to the medication prescribed to you. Appointments can vary from weekly to monthly or possibly longer depending on your clinical presentation.
